Siteman Cancer Center ''Celebrating You''

October 20, 2006, ST. LOUIS – The Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine will offer a women''s health event called "Celebrating You" on Thursday, November 2 from 8 a.m. to12:30 p.m. at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.

Four Washington University physician will discuss the latest findings in the prevention and treatment of cancer and heart disease. For example, Alison Whelan, MD, director of the Siteman Cancer Center''s genetic cancer program, will talk about "Genes, Cancer & Family History: What You Need to Know." Also, Andy Kates, MD, medical director of the Heart Disease Prevention Program at the Washington University Heart Care Institute at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, will focus on "Who''s at risk for heart disease and why should women care?"

Shirley Garrett, PhD, will serve as keynote speaker focusing on the role humor plays in dealing with stress. She is an award-winning speaker and author of Tap Water Girl In A Bottled Water World.
