How To Apply To One Of Our Programs
Interested candidates must complete and submit an electronic application for the pharmacy residency program of interest using the ASHP PhORCAS centralized application system by January 2, 2025. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
PGY1 Program
Requirements for application include:
- Eligible for a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited school of pharmacy (or one in the process of pursuing accreditation) or Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP)
- Eligible for pharmacist licensure in Missouri with Medication Therapy Services (MTS) certification
- Completed PhORCAS application, including:
- Letter of intent
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Official pharmacy school transcripts
- Three standardized reference forms, with at least two being from APPE rotation preceptors
PGY2 Programs
Requirements for application include:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited school of pharmacy (or one in the process of pursuing accreditation) or Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP)
- Successful completion of an ASHP-accredited or candidate status PGY1 residency prior to start of PGY2 residency
- Eligible for pharmacist licensure in Missouri with Medication Therapy Services (MTS) certification
- Completed PhORCAS application, including:
- Letter of intent
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Official pharmacy school transcripts
- Three standardized reference forms, with at least two being from PGY1 rotation preceptors
Residency Interviews
Interviews generally occur on Mondays in late January through February for PGY2 programs and Fridays in February for the PGY1 program. Selected candidates will be notified of a request for interview, which may occur in person or virtually at the preference of the candidate or program.
Conditions for Acceptance
After acceptance into a Barnes-Jewish Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program, the resident must remain an employee and resident in good standing, comply with all hospital policies and screening guidelines, and sign a memorandum of appointment. Prior to beginning residency, residents will be subject to a background check and drug screen. Copies of these policies can be obtained by contacting:
