Barnes-Jewish Hospital welcomes two new leaders to its executive team - Ian Barrett and Maggie Johnson-Glover.
Ian Barrett, EdD, SPHR, CCP, CBP, joined Barnes-Jewish as vice president of human resources. Barrett has 30 years of human resources experience focusing on multi-year strategic operating plans, organizational strategy and aligning people priorities with overall strategy.
Before joining Barnes-Jewish, Barrett served as associate vice president of human resources talent management at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health). In this role, he provided strategic and tactical leadership for talent acquisition and recruiting, health care systems staffing, talent and organizational development, and diversity and inclusion. UTMB Health is nationally recognized for clinical care, health sciences education and research with 12,000 employees, including 1,000 faculty members.
Barrett earned his doctorate and undergraduate degrees at the University of Georgia and an MBA at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is life-certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources by the Society for Human Resource Management, and as both a Certified Compensation Professional and a Certified Benefits Professional by World-at-Work.
He is a board member for the Human Rights Campaign, and is a lifetime member of both Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the NAACP. He is a graduate of Leadership Galveston and the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio’s Urban Leader Institute.
Maggie Johnson-Glover, PhD, MSN, RN, joined Barnes-Jewish as associate chief nurse. She will support the hospital’s patient care services operations with a focus on organizational high reliability, both in clinical improvement initiatives, leader development, and staff recruitment and retention.
Johnson-Glover has 33 years of extensive health care and military experience, most recently serving as senior health care executive consultant and nurse scientist with the American Nurses Association (ANA). In that role, she provided expertise for research and evidence-based practice, innovation development and Magnet designation.
She is a graduate of Texas Woman’s University and the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Prior to her role at the ANA, Johnson-Glover was an associate professor at Howard University and an associate vice president of nursing at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. In that role she was responsible for oversight, monitoring and outcomes for core measures, nurse-sensitive indicators, patient satisfaction, nurse satisfaction, research and evidence-based practice development.
She is a U.S. Navy veteran and was the first nurse to receive the Alumni Excellence Award from Texas Woman’s University.
