Siteman’s 2006 Komen Team Largest Yet

May 30, 2006, ST. LOUIS - If the Komen-St. Louis Race for the Cure sets the national record with over 63,000 participants, a great deal of thanks can go to the Siteman Cancer Center.

The 2006 Siteman team will feature 3,038 participants with over $66,000 donated by Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University School of Medicine employees and Siteman patients, families and friends. That''s an increase of over 700 racers from 2005.

"This blew away our predictions for 2006," says Linda Gidday, co-chair of the Siteman team and marketing supervisor at Siteman.

Gidday co-chairs the team with Angela Benassi, oncology communications coordinator at Siteman. Both are excited to see the team explode in size from last year. "It makes me very happy to help out something as important as breast cancer awareness," says Benassi.
