Top-Ranked Care, All Day, All Night
In Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s ICUs, highly trained critical care nurses like Myra Suntrup, RN, and Frank Grasso, RN, carefully monitor and provide a continuous presence — day and night — for patients. These nurses work closely with intensivists, attending physicians with specialized intensive care training and certification, to deliver the right care, right away. Some of the most difficult cases are referred from other hospitals to Barnes-Jewish Hospital ICUs for intensivist-led care.
The leadership of an intensivist reduces mortality and morbidity, decreases the average length of stay by one-third and significantly decreases the cost of care, according to the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
