Hospital is State Winner for Highest Quality Care
Barnes-Jewish Hospital was recently honored with the 2007 Primaris Hospital Quality Award for providing the highest quality care in Missouri.
Primaris is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care. Each year, it presents the award to only one hospital in Missouri that ranks among the highest on quality of care measures designated by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Barnes-Jewish Hospital earned this recognition through their promotion of patient-centered care. They’ve achieved great results, particularly through empowering employees and patients to elevate the importance of quality health care,”says Richard A. Royer, CEO of Primaris.
Primaris noted Barnes-Jewish’s efforts to promote a culture of patient safety, including a policy to prevent medical errors and a program to document patient safety concerns. The hospital also encourages staff to openly report and discuss medical errors, conducts weekly clinical performance reviews and develops improvement action plans.
