Few life events are as stressful as a high-risk pregnancy. The new Fetal Care Center is designed to handle these pregnancies by providing outstanding care in a coordinated, caring fashion.
The center combines the full expertise and experience of Washington University physicians, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH).
Washington University’s maternal-fetal obstetricians are highly successful in managing mothers and babies at risk; Barnes-Jewish’s maternity units offer the most advanced technology and the nursing expertise to provide safe care during and after delivery.
And the SLCH neonatal unit is among the best in the country. Parents magazine ranks SLCH third nationally in newborn medicine.
The Fetal Care Center provides a pre-planned continuum of care, including early identification of problems and the full range of solutions during the pregnancy and immediately after delivery.
The Fetal Care Center is the only comprehensive facility in the Midwest to offer such services in one location.
To guide families through the experience, the center also provides every mother with a personal nurse advocate who accompanies her to appointments. Additionally, the multidisciplinary group of physicians involved in the mother’s and infant’s care meet with the mother regularly to discuss test results and develop and explain the optimal health care plan.
