When Phil suffered a severe knee injury in college, the young athlete and his family looked for a team skilled in sports-related injury management to help him return to his active lifestyle. They chose the sports medicine specialists at Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Matthew Matava, MD, is a Washington University orthopedic surgeon at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He surgically repaired the torn ligaments in Phil's knee, and with the help of a team of specialists, led Phil through a year-long rehabilitation.
