Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Surgery

With specialized instruments and minimally-invasive techniques, doctors at Barnes-Jewish Hospital are improving mitral valve repair. Rather than the traditional open chest heart surgery, a new procedure called a mini-thoracotomy allows surgeons to repair mitral valves through a small incision under the arm, leading to less scarring, less pain and faster recovery for patients.
